ROLE

Development Projects Coordinator

"Directed early-stage development and concept studies for this large-scale mixed-use waterfront project in İzmir, whilst navigating a rapidly evolving macroeconomic environment."

This investment would reshape the harbour city of Izmir, adding a new sub-center and positive vibes to the dynamics of the city. With its unique location in the city of Izmir, this mixed-use project would support a multi functional life style, with its retail, residential, work and leisure functions. Due to site’s close proximity to Aegean Sea, sea view would be available both for office and residential blocks.

The İzmir Konak project was initially developed as a 50/50 joint venture between Rönesans Gayrimenkul and Tekfen Holding, with a large-scale mixed-use vision including a shopping mall, residences, and office towers. Located in Konak, the project was positioned as a landmark investment aligned with İzmir’s shift toward a new central business district.

After its announcement around 2015–2017, the project gradually lost momentum and did not proceed as planned. Factors such as economic fluctuations in Turkey, financing constraints, and changing demand for large mixed-use projects contributed to the slowdown. Later the project was reconfigured due to financial, contractual, and market challenges, Vakıf GYO took the lead of the development and initiated previous contractor agreements.
